Brewers Reportedly Lock Up Weeks

Happy Spring Training Brewers fans.

Word out of the Maryvale Baseball Complex in Phoenix today is that the Milwaukee Brewers and second baseman Rickie Weeks have tentatively agreed to a four-year deal with an option for a fifth year.

Rickie "One Hit Every Two" Weeks
The numbers of the deal haven't been announced and neither has the deal itself yet. Brewers' beat writer Adam McCalvy has already written like it's in stone. This deal means the Brewers and Weeks' council don't have to square off in the arbitration hearing that was scheduled for Thursday.

I'm pretty pleased that we are able to lock Weeks up. He's coming off his first healthy season since I can remember and he put up great offensive numbers (28 HRs and 81 RBIs) from the lead-off spot. He also scored 110 runs for the Crew in 2010.

Let's be honest, his defense could use work but if he puts up those numbers for the next four years, I could live with an error per series so long as it isn't a backbreaker when we need a double-play against the Phillies in the NLCS. That I could never forgive.
