Conductor by Alexander Chen. Brooklyn.
Alexander Chen's Conductor turns the New York subway system into an interactive string instrument. Using the MTA's actual subway schedule, the piece begins in realtime by spawning trains which departed in the last minute, then continues accelerating through a 24 hour loop. The visuals are based on Massimo Vignelli's 1972 diagram. Chen works for Google Creative Lab.

Mount Kimbie. Before I Move Off.
Mount Kimbie = Dom Maker + Kai Campos. Video directed by photographer Tyrone Lebon. London.
... seizure inducing but a fantastic music video all the same... definitely captures the buzz of travel and how quickly it all goes by in a flash-but if looking back you realize how much you did/saw/experienced... total time warp.

I've been listening (lots) to Caribou's recent album SWIM from start to end-and enjoying/appreciating it more and more-always a sign of a GREAT record (worth blogging about) That said, I had to post the whole thing. Daniel Snaith's voice sounds like Arthur Russell meets Erlend Øye... amazing.

Linda McCartney. Photographer. Singer. Activist. American. 1941 – 1998.

Linda married Paul McCartney in 1969, and the two had three children: Mary Anna, (fashion designer/activist) Stella, and James. Linda was a member of Paul's band, Wings, and she also wrote/recorded music independently (Seaside woman- Suzy and The Red Stripes). Linda was house photographer at the Fillmore East concern hall and shot numerous musicians including the Stones, Doors, Frank Zappa, Kinks, the Who, the Beach Boys, the Byrds, the Beatles etc. During her days as a professional photographer, she published Linda McCartney's Sixties: Portrait of an Era. As a vegetarian and animal rights activist, Linda wrote several cookbooks, and also created the Linda McCartney Foods company, selling ready made veggie food. Linda famously said "if slaughterhouses had glass walls the whole world would be vegetarian". Sadly, Linda passed away at age 56 from breast cancer. She was a beautiful human being and a personal inspiration.
