Florals for Spring

I am back! I wish I could say I've been away doing something terribly exciting, but rather I was sitting at a desk for what felt like an eternity studying for my law exams. Exams are over now, and although my new job will be keeping me busy this summer, I should have lots of time to blog :) It was so hard picking a topic for my first post after all this time. There have been so many fabulous fashion editorials, a few new fashionista in the lime light, fantastic lookbooks, brand collaborations like Lanvin for H&M (I'm in love!), but in the end I decided on florals because even though it may be clichéd, I can't help being drawn to florals in the Spring. In Sydney we've had some pretty wild weather over the last month from storms to overcast cloudy weather & a few very random days (or half days) of actual Spring weather, but the sunny weather seems to have finally set in. It hasn't been much of a Spring, which is usually by favourite time of the year because the flowers are in bloom, you can wonder around in a pretty, floating dress without being cold or too hot, and there are those fabulous warm nights perfect so relaxing outdoors with friends over dinner or a cup of tea.

Here is a montage of pics which have been getting me in the mood for the sunny Spring days:

Hello Spring

Codie Yong & Rosemary Smith
Photographed by Nicole Bentley
Vogue Australia October 2010

The perfect shoot for spring. Sure, florals for spring are not groundbreaking - I just thought of Miranda in the Devil Wears Prada when she complains about putting florals in the spring issue. Never the less, I think this shoot is lovely. I love the garden themed backdrop. The clothes are exquisite - such delicate ensembles, lace, feathers, embellishment and lots of colour. Love love love the lace stockings! Not to mention those floral headpieces. I am obsessed with putting fresh flowers in hair at the moment, although I'm sure sure if I could get away with such large numbers of orchids and roses. This shoot is definitely set to become a timeless Vogue Australia favourite.

Eclectic Style

Madisyn Ritland

Jessica Stam

At the moment I'm into mixing different styles together - whether it be florals with fur, classic with grunge, or vintage with new. I love the word eclectic - it means to select or choose from various sources. I like to wear clothes that mean something to me. When you look in the mirror it feels great to remember a vintage shopping trip with a close friend, a holiday with family, or the person who bought a particular item for me. Mix these all together and your bound to feel happy and confident in your outfit. These shoots are filled with fabulous eclectic looks. I love the floral pieces, hats, feathers, lace and the Louis Vuitton suitcases (they will be forever stylish) for the Jalouse shoot. As for the shoot with Jessica Stam, that is absolute eclectic perfection. Such an adorable lingerie ensemble!

Summer Daydream

Model: Iza Olak
Photographer: Henry Moshizi
Costume June 2010

Such a pretty photoshoot. I love the loose curls, tulle underlay skirts, florals and espadrilles. It makes me wish that Sydney sunshine would come out, after what seems like weeks of rain and cloudy weather.
