Love this look! If only I could braid hair. Interesting quote too....

All things lace have been in for a while now. Unfortunately, the trend has a become a little tacky thanks to an overload of lace clothing and accessories available in high street stores (sounds better than chain stores). I've been meaning to do a post on lace for a while. Since I have collected so many pics, I thought I'd start with lace tights, which I'm still much a fan of. They are the perfect balance between showing off some skin, but still covering up a little. And they add a bit of an edge to liven up an outfit. It was when I saw the above pic of Chloe that I decided I simply must find a pair of lace tights and get myself a pair of suede ankle boots. I now own both :)  Surprisingly, a great pair of lace tights were harder to find than I thought. I ended up settling for a pair from Sportsgirl which are very similar to the ones warn above by Kasia in the Numero shoot. I was hoping to get something with a larger floral pattern, like the ones worn by Taylor Momsen, but I haven't come across any of the sort as yet.

Mad about Wonderland

 Alice: Have I gone mad?

The Hatter: I'm afraid so, you're entirely bonkers. But I'll tell you a secret. All the best people are.

The other night I finally watched Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland and once again I'm obsessed with what is in my opinion one of the best stories ever written. The Disney cartoon Alice in Wonderland is probably one of the first movies I can remember watching as a child and it has always been a favourite. It most probably sparked my love of pretty dressy, top hats, pocket watches, headbands and bows in hair, my fascination with the game of croquet and roses as my flower of choice. I'm clearly not the only person mad about Wonderland, as over the years the film has been recreated several times over including most recently by Tim Burton, Gwen Stefani used it  as the theme behind her videoclip for her single "What you waiting for?" and the theme has appeared  in both US Vogue and Harper's Bazaar fashion shoots, just to name a few. It's fabulous that this tale written by Lewis Carrol  in 1885 has stood the test of time and is still enjoyed by both adults and children. I've always wanted to have dress-up Mad Hatters Tea party complete with cocktails served in teapots and scrumptious cupcakes, followed by a crazy game of Croquette for a birthday, but perhaps to celebrate an Unbirthday would be more appropriate!
