What to Know About Pippa Middleton’s Royal Wedding Date Alex Loudon

Philippa “Pippa” Middleton was certainly a standout at the wedding of her sister, Duchess Catherine Middleton, to Prince William.

But what’s the story behind the lucky gentleman who accompanied Pippa, 27, on the big day as she fulfilled her duties as maid of honor?

Here’s what you should know about Pippa’s royal wedding date – and rumored beau – Alex Loudon:

1. He ended his career as a cricket player to work in business. A right-handed batsman and an off spin bowler, Loudon, 30, had a promising career as an English cricket player. But in 2007, the Warwickshire-based athlete ended it to focus on a job in business. “I will continue to closely support the club and wish the boys every success for the next season and beyond,” Loudon said at the time, according to the BBC. The following year, he enrolled in the full-time MBA program at the London Business School.

2. He’s no stranger to the good life. Alex’s dad, James Loudon, is a retired financier. Alex was the president of Pop, an elite society at Eton, the school he attended before he went to college at Durham, one of the most prestigious and highest-ranked universities in England. According to the Daily Mail, Alex was “unbelievably popular” throughout his school days.

3. He fits the mold of the typical sort of guy Middleton dates. Similar to Loudon, Pippa’s former reported flames Charlie Gilkes, Simon Youngman and Billy More Nesbitt are also considered handsome, well-rounded men from wealthy families. Gilkes ran a popular nightclub and attended school at Edinburgh with Middleton, while Nesbitt is a Scottish aristocrat. Youngman is a diamond heir who works in event planning.

Vivid Entertainment honcho Steven Hirsch sent Pippa the letter, saying he thought she was the star of the Royal Wedding and that her “beauty and attitude” would make her a huge adult star. The fact she had some semi-racy photos surface this week probably didn’t hurt either.

But get this — Hirsch is also offering $1 million to another member of her family for doing a scene … her brother James! Back in February 2009, Hirsch offered Nadya Suleman $1 mil to appear in a flick. Thankfully, she said no.

Pippa Middleton is the younger sister of Kate Middleton, the finace of Prince William. In 2007 she ended a three-year relationship with Jonathan Jardine Paterson, of the Hong Kong banking family, whom she had first dated at Edinburgh, and after that her name was linked with the man about town Billy More Nisbett. She also enjoyed a close friendship with Lord Percy.

In 2008, Middleton took a job with Table Talk, a company based in London which organizes events and parties. In September 2009, it was reported that she had been 'snapped up' by Alexander Spencer Churchill, of the investment managers Spencer-Churchill Miller, after he ended a relationship with Lady Louisa Compton, the youngest child of the Marquess of Northampton.Following the official announcement of her sister's engagement to Prince William on 23 November 2010, the Daily Mail commented 'Ironically, family friends of the Middletons say that everyone always thought that the sparkly Pippa rather than the quieter and less glossy Kate would be the one most likely to make a spectacular marriage'.
