With tension mounting over the results of the Central Board of Secondary Education's higher secondary examinations, expected to be declared by the end of this month, an NGO on Sunday said that its counselling helpline for students will be operational from Monday.

Called 'Hopeline', the service will help students deal with stress faced by the students and also provide career guidance.

A statement from NGO Snehi said: "The exam results become a social nightmare for students who do not come up to the expectations of their parents. Free and confidential counselling services will be provided from May 16 to May 31. The helpline will be open from 10am to 7pm on telephone number 011-26463336."

"Students can seek help through e-mail also at hopeline98@gmail.com. The helpline is an effective measure towards suicide prevention and promotion of positive mental health," added the statement.

The helpline, in its 13th year, consists of a team of professional counsellors and teachers who have attended to over 50,387 students and 6,837 parents in the last 13 years, the statement said.

The Class 10 examinations of the CBSE were abolished this year, and replaced by a grading system based on internal marking by the schools.

ISAT 2011 Results


The Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST) has published the results of ISAT 2011 on May 16, 2011 at its official websitehttp://www.iist.ac.in/isat2011.
Students need to log in with their User account with ISAT registration no. and password OR they can use their Roll no. and date of birth to see the results.
Due to heavy load and many people accessing the website simultaneously, the official site is not opening at the moment. Students can check keep checking again.
ISAT 2011 ranking procedure has also been published by the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology at http://www.iist.ac.in.

IAS / UPSC Results 2011


The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has published the Civil Services (Main) Examination results 2010 on Wednesday.
The UPSC result is based on the results of the written part of Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2010, held by the UPSC in October / November, 2010 and the interviews for Personality Test held in March / April, 2011.

The list, in order of merit, of candidates who have been recommended for appointment to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS) and Central Services, Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’.
S Divyadharshini (Roll No 014421) has topped the Civil Services Exam 2010 while Sweta Mohanty (316736) stood secnd in the merit list.

Chennai-based law graduate S Divyadharshini has topped the prestigious Civil Services Examination 2010 for which the results were announced on Wednesday.

The second position was also secured by a woman, Sweta Mohanty, a computer engineer, while R V Varun Kumar, a dentist from Chennai, got the third rank.

A total of 920 candidates, including 203 women, have been selected for the Civil Services, which attracts the largest number of candidates from the entire length and breadth of the country.

Divyadharshini, who has done BA, BL (Hons) from Dr Ambedkar Law University in Chennai, cleared the exam in her second attempt. Mohanty cleared the exam in her third attempt.

Kumar, the topper among men, has done his BDS from Ragas Dental College in Chennai. This is his third attempt.

An elated Divyadharshini said she was surprised to find herself topping the exam as she was not expecting it. "I was expecting some result but not as a topper," she said.

As congratulatory messages poured in, she said the achievement was the result of "tedious" exercise and hard work of one year coupled with luck.

The top 25 candidates consist of 20 men and five women - 15 of whom are engineers, five belonging to Commerce, Management, Humanities, Science and Social Sciences; and five belonging to medical science background.

Of the top 25, eight have made to the merit list in their first attempt while four made it in their second attempt, nine in third attempt, three in fourth attempt and one in fifth attempt.

Among those selected, 28 are physically challenged candidates while 14 are  orthopaedically challenged, five visually impaired and nine hearing impaired.

A total number of 5,47,698 candidates applied for this examination and 2,69,036 candidates appeared for Preliminary examination, which was conducted on May 23, 2010.

12,491 candidates qualified for the main written examination held in October- November 2010; 2,589 candidates were shortlisted for the personality test conducted in March-April 2011 out of which 920 were selected.

They have been recommended for appointment including 428 General (including 19 Physically Challenged), 270 OBCs (including 8 Physically Challenged candidates), 148 Scheduled Castes (including one Physically Challenged candidate) and 74 Scheduled Tribes candidates.

There are 151 vacancies in IAS, 35 vacancies in IFS and 150 in IPS.

The results are available on PIB website - www.pib.nic.in and also on the UPSC website - www.upsc.gov.in.

The UPSC has set up a 'Facilitation Counter' in its Delhi campus. Candidates can obtain any information or clarification regarding their examinations and recruitments on the working days between 1000 hours to 1700 hours in person or over telephone numbers 011-2338527, 23381125 and 23098543.

However, marks are likely to be available on the website within 15 days from the date of declaration of results.

UPSC Result


New Delhi: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC)has announced the list of candidates who have been selected for the Civil services based on the Civil Services Main Examination that had been conducted in October-November 2010 as well as the Personality Test that was conducted in March-April, 2011.
The candidates who have been selected for the civil services have been recommended for appointment to the Indian Administrative Services (IAS), Indian Foreign Services (IFS), Indian Police Services (IPS) and Central Services (Group 'A' and Group 'B').

The total number of candidates who have been recommended for the services is 920.

The Civil Services Examination is the most important and prestigious examinationamongst various examinations that are conducted by the UPSC.

It attracts the largest number of candidates from the entire length and breadth of the country. The selected candidates are appointed to the higher civil services of the country.

A total number of 5,47,698 candidates applied for the examination for the year 2011 and 2,69,036 candidates appeared for the Preliminary examination, which was conducted on May 23, 2010.

The number of candidates who had qualified for the main written examination that was held ion October-November 2010 was 12,491 out of which 2589 candidates had been shortlisted for the Personality Test that was conducted this year in March-April.

This year a female candidate, S. Divyadharshini has topped the Civil Services Examination. Divyadharshini has done her B.A., B.L.(Hons.) from Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University, Chennai. This was her second attempt at the prestigious examinations.

The second ranker is also a female candidate, Sweta Mohanty. Sweta has done her B.Tech (Computer Science) from Gokaraju Rangaraju Institute of Engineering and Technology of the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University in Hyderabad. This was her third attempt.

R.V. Varun Kumar is the topper among male candidates and has secured the third rank overall. He has done his BDS from Ragas Dental College in Chennai. This was Varun Kumar's third attempt.

The top 25 candidates this year comprise of 20 males and 5 females. Out of these 25, 15 candidates are from an engineering background, 5 candidates are fromcommerce, management, humanities, science and social sciences and the rest 5 are from medical science background.

Eight candidates among the top 25 have succeeded in making it to the list in their first attempt itself. 4 candidates from the 25 have succeeded in their second attempt, 9 in their third attempt, 3 in their fourth attempt and 1 in the fifth attempt.

28 candidates from the 920 who have been recommended are physically challenged, 14 are orthopaedically challenged. Also, 5 candidates are visually impaired and 9 are hearing impaired.

PUC Results 2011

The much awaited results of II PU exam for more than 6.2 lakhs students would be announced today i.e. 10 May at around 6 pm in the evening. The results will be published at BangaloreOne and KarnatakaOne centres at various regions in the state. Results will be displayed the respective colleges of the students a day after as Principals will be required to collect the results from the respective deputy directors of PU education.

Students can check their results on various results portals and official portal athttp://karresults.nic.intoday or can get the results on mobile by sending an SMS after writing KAR12(space)(REGISTRATION NO) to 58888, when declared.

The PUC examinations were conducted back in March this year and total number of 6,24,225 students appeared in the same where majority of students were appeared in the Arts stream followed by Commerce and Science. Results of SSLC would be published after the couple of day PUC results as informed by the Primary and secondary education minister Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri.

The Board of Technical Education, Rajasthan has issued the Admit Card and is available for download at its official website.RPET 2011 will be held on May 19, 2011.

Candidates can download the Hall ticket online from the University’s official website.

HSC Result


HSC Result
The pass percentage in the plus two public examination held in March this year in Puducherry and Karaikkal is 83.54.

This was higher by about 9% compared to 74.63 percentage last year, Director of School Education G Panneerselvam told reporters releasing the results.

He said out of 11,428 candidates appeared for the examination in the two regions, 9547 students have emerged successful.

Kurukshetra University


AB Tech III year student from Delhi was today found dead in his hostel room in Kurukshetra University under mysterious conditions, police said.
When a reek started emanating from the deceased's locked room in Harsh Bhawan hostel of the University, some hostelers informed the warden about it.
Chief Warden Sat Dev got the door of the room opened and the body was found in a decomposed condition, police said.
They said that the body bore a cut on the chin and the dead was identified as AK Jain a student in the Mechanical branch of the Institute of Engineering and Technology.
A resident of Rohini in Delhi, Jain was last seen working on his laptop till late Monday night after which no one saw him.
The deceased's parents in Delhi were informed, police said, adding, the student's body had been sent for postmortem examination to PGIMS at Rohtak.
Police have registered a case in the incident and said that prima facie it looked like a suicide case.

Renowned scientists from across the country are expected to attend INSPIRE internship summer camp for students being organized here by Saurashtra University's (SU) department of pharmaceutical sciences. The summer camp, which is funded by the department of science and technology (DST), government of India, will be held from May 3 to May 7 for students who want to pursue a career in science.

The visiting scientists from different institutions will talk about issues related to nano-technology, bio-technology, chemistry, genetics, environmental chemistry and physics.

Prof D Sunder, assistant professor at department of biochemical engineering and biotechnology ofIndian Institute of Technology, New Delhi (IIT-New Delhi), will deliver a lecture on 'Genome Projects - Past, Present and Future'. Dr Hari S Misra, scientific officer at Bhabha Atomic Biology Centre, Mumbai, will talk on 'Extremophiles and Their Usefulness in Biotechnology'.

Lectures are also lined up on evolutions of antibiotics resistance; how to think of research in science with special reference to biological science; chemistry of climate change; marine science with focus on fisheries; biological effects on radiation: challenges and opportunities; mathematics in service of science; and experiments in chemical engineering.

The students will visit Science City in Ahmedabad after the conclusion of the summer camp.

AIEEE Paper Leak

The All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) was delayed by hours on Sunday after the question paper was allegedly leaked last night. No one has been arrested so far in this connection.

The Uttar Pradesh government, confirming the exam paper leak, said question papers were being sold for Rs 6 lakh per paper in open market here.

There has been no arrest yet, said the UP government.

"We are trying to trace down two people who leaked the paper. We have the paper with us since last night,” said Special Task Force (STF) officer Vijay Prakash.

The examination for the 1st paper, scheduled to begin at 9:30 am, began at 12 pm. The second paper, which was to start at 2 pm, will now start at 7 pm, said Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

AIEEE Postponed


Question papers of the All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) were leaked in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday and the said exam will be held on May 8, 2011
AIEEE exam  has been delayed by three hours  on Sunday due to paper leak .The actual timing of the paper was 9:30AM  but now the exam will be conducted  at 12:00PM .
Immediately after the question papers were leaked, the CBSE postponed the two exams which were scheduled to begin at 9:30 AM and 2:00 PM , a senior HRD ministry official said
.

"The exams for the 1st paper which was scheduled to begin at 9:30 AM will now begin at 12:00 PM. The second paper which was to begin at 02:00 PM will now start at 7:00 PM," the official said.

As per sources the paper was leaked in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar pradesh. About 12 lakh students across the country are scheduled to write the prestigious exam at over 1,600 centres in more than 80 cities .
This is for the first time that the AIEEE is being held in the online mode. Nearly one lakh students from 20 cities will take the examination online.

According to sources  the question paper was being sold in the open market in Lucknow.

The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force has arrested one person in connection with the paper leak and are looking for further leads in the case.

AIEEE is conducted to gain admissions into National Institutes of Technology and other engineering colleges in the country.

The All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE), being taken by over 12 lakh students across the country, was delayed by three hours Sunday over reports that one of the papers had been leaked, an official said Sunday.
"The first paper that was scheduled to start at 9.30 a.m. has been delayed by three hours. We have notified over 1,600 examination centres across the country," said an official from the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), the nodal agency for conducting the exam.
The paper is conducted in two halves over the day. While the first paper is for bachelor of engineering (B.E.) aspirants, the second paper (2 p.m. to 5 p.m.) is for students wanting to pursue bachelor of architecture (B.Arch).
"The authorities will soon notify students on the timings of the second exam. Students need not worry," added the official.
However, there was no official information on the question paper leak.
"It is difficult to say anything on the question paper leak as of now. We are only going by reports," the official said.
Over 12 lakh students across the country are appearing for around 26,816 engineering and architecture seats under the AIEEE.

SSLC Results 2011
Kerala SSLC results 2011 were declared today by Education Minister M A Baby. Pass percentage has increased to 91.37% when compared to last year.

Out of the 4,58, 559 who wrote the exam, 4,18, 967 have qualified for higher education. Kottayam leads with a 97.02% pass percentage followed by Kannur with 96.2%.


While Trivandrum lags behind and has the least pass percent of 85.95%. 577 schools obtained a 100% pass percentage. OBC has a pass percentage of 91.36%, ST with 80.94% and SC with 82.25%. 5821 students acquired A+ grade for all subjects.
In Trivandrum, 189 students obtained A+ grade in all subjects.

“All the schools have a pass percentage of more than 50%. For the past few years the SSLC results have been positive with a good pass percentage. I appeal to all the young friends out there to approach the results positively,” said M A Baby. The higher secondary application forms will be available to the students by May 4.
