Farmed bamboo stabilizes the earth with its roots preventing erosion (unlike in tree farming). Bamboo sucks in greenhouse gasses+produces oxygen (more so than trees). It also filters heavy metals from groundwater and removes even more carbon dioxide than trees. I heart Bamboo.
