I Hate Polls

Hi, my name is Charlie Tritschler and I am bitter.  No, it's not because I am without a Valentine (actually a positive as it saves me a ton of money) but due to the ludicrousness of two college basketball polls, the Associated Press and Coaches Poll screwing up the system by putting Kansas at the number one spot... Please tell me how this makes sense at all.

Some of you might be confused how I can be mad that a team with one defeat is number one in the polls.  Well, here is why. Texas beat Kansas 73-64 in Lawrence.  The Longhorns ended a 69 game winning streak at Allen Fieldhouse and came back from 15 down to win the game. I watched this game, and to be honest, the Longhorns impressed me more than they ever have under Rick Barnes' tenure. Kansas is a damn good ball club and blew out Missouri the week before, however, they still don't belong at number one when they aren't leading their conference.

If I had a vote in the AP, this is how I would have voted for my top five... 1.) Texas  2.) Pittsburgh  3.) Kansas 4.) Ohio State  5.) Duke.  The Panthers deserve some credit for winning two games at West Virginia and Villanova without star player Ashton Gibbs. Not to mention, Pitt beat Texas earlier on this season on a neutral court, so should they be number one?  I don't know.

This is more proof on how much parity there is in college basketball. I love it because right now, any team can win the NCAA tournament.  For example, look at Joe Lundari's Bracketology, he has two Mountain West schools at a 2 seed, which I haven't seen in my short time of following college basketball this close.

I really hope we have a ball don't lie situation tonight and Kansas State knocks off their rival Kansas to give the Longhorns justice.
