The Dovecot Studio. Haworth Tompkins Architects.
An artists studio in Stuffolk, UK.
The existing Victorian structure was used as steel ‘lining’ for the building. The building was welded in a single piece to achieve weather-tightness, and then fitted with a simple plywood inner lining. A large light roof window provides even lighting for the artists in residence. The small mezzanine platform also has a window with a view of the marshes looking to the sea. The space is also open for musicians to use as rehearsal/performance space, or as a temporary exhibition space.
