Britney sued for Perfume Scam
Britney Spears is being sued for $10 million by her business partners who have accused her of breach of contract in a deal over her perfume brand Radiance. The lawsuit, filed on Wednesday in Los Angeles County Superior Court, relates to her branding deal with beauty firm Elizabeth Arden, worth USD 15 million a year, reported Star magazine.Britney and her father Jamie are accused of being “sneaky and underhand” by trying to cut partner, Brand Sense, out of a licensing agreement. In the court documents it is stated, “Britney secretly made a separate deal with Elizabeth Arden in a sneaky underhanded effort to circumvent and evade its obligations to Brand Sense. Effectively, Britney improperly and illegally cut Brand Sense out of the Elizabeth Arden deal.”Britney is being accused of “concealment and evasive actions” by Brand Sense. The suit adds that Brand Sense has a “contractual right to 35 per cent commission on any Britney Spears-branded fragrance sold by Elizabeth Arden.”It claims that Jamie, who remains his daughter’s conservator, “complained that the commission was too high and said that Britney did not want to pay it.”The ‘Toxic’ hitmaker released ‘Radiance’, the ninth scent in her collection, in September, last year. She also appeared in her comeback video ‘Hold It Against Me’ with a bottle of the perfume, which was released around the same time the alleged fraud came to light.
