I heart Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall.

Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall is a celebrity chef, journalist, food writer, farmer, and activist. He works to bring awareness about food production issues. He's done 2 TV shows, 5 TV series at his home River Cottage, and written 4 books. His recent Chicken Out! campaign consisted of 3 shows showing how commercial broiler chickens are reared for their meat in only 39 days, as oppose to the normal growing time of at least 75 days in more humane/natural surroundings. He pointed out Tesco as a major chicken retailer who fails to conform to the Farm Animal Welfare Council standards. He purchased a share in the company so that he could table a resolution, which he did in 2008, demanding that Tesco produce chickens humanely. Sadly, the resolution was not passed as there was not enough support from other shareholders.
