The Very Late, Very Half-Assed NL Preview

I am sorry to all of you who were waiting on the other half of the Major League Baseball preview, but I got busy with school which always comes first.  Instead of doing my normal thing, I am just going to list all of the teams and where I think they will finish. Let me note that this is what I thought before the season started and while my mind might have changed since then, I will stay true to my word.

NL East
1.) Atlanta Braves
2.) Philadelphia Phillies (Wild Card)
3.) Florida Marlins
4.) New York Mets
5.) Washington Nationals

Thoughts: That is right I do not have the Phillies winning the division. They have a great pitching staff, no question about it but I worry about their offense. Ryan Howard isn't getting any younger, and Chase Utley's injury sounds like a real problem. Their bullpen isn't anything special either. I love the Braves, completely stacked with young talent plus enough experience to win the division.

NL Central
1.) Milwaukee Brewers
2.) St. Louis Cardinals
3.) Cincinnati Reds
4.) Chicago Cubs
5.) Pittsburgh Pirates
6.) Houston Astros

Thoughts: I still stand by this no matter the Brewers' start to the season. Later today, I will go into detail about why you shouldn't go crazy about the 0-4 start. The Brewers have the strongest pitching staff in the division, and the Reds will flame out like most Dusty Baker teams. The Cardinals will still be there because of Cris Carpenter and Albert Pujols amongst other great players.

NL West
1.) Colorado Rockies
2.) San Francisco Giants
3.) Los Angeles Dodgers
4.) San Diego Padres
5.) Arizona Diamondbacks

Thoughts: I do not have the Giants going back to the playoffs because I do not know if their pitching staff can carry them like they did last season. I also love Carlos Gonzalez and think the Rockies will have great success with Ubaldo Jimenez again this season.
